I finished this quilt the day after I finished my memoir. Mixing colors and piecing fabric together helped me piece together my life in a cult.
TENDER LOVING CARE started with an idea forty years ago. After my first draft, a writer friend said, "You need to learn to show not tell." Whatever that is, I thought. She continued, "Try joining a writers' critique group." It was the middle of Covid, so where were these critique groups? I joined three on-line groups: one Eugene, OR; one in North Carolina; and a third in my hometown, Bend, OR. These generous writers taught me through gentle critique. Writing is not lonely; it is a community.
